What Does The Arkansas DMV Do?

The Arkansas DMV is made up of two agencies that handle driver licensing and motor vehicle services, though all services can be accessed through the state’s myDMV site:

The ODS handles all driver-related services for both new residents and existing AR drivers, including driver’s license, ID card, and learner’s permit applications, road testing, driving records, and commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs). Boating licenses and registrations are handled by the state’s Game and Fish Commission.

The OMV handles vehicle registration and titling services for Arkansas residents, including license plate applications, motor vehicle reports, custom license plates, and boat registrations.

As a new resident to Arkansas, you have 30 days after establishing residency to exchange your driver’s license and apply for a vehicle registration. There are no inspection requirements for vehicles in Arkansas.
