What Does The Nevada DMV Do?

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) handles all services for drivers in the state, including driver licensing and ID card applications and renewals; vehicle titles, registrations, and renewals; and driving records. The Nevada Department of Wildlife (DOW) is responsible for boat registration as well as boater education and licensing.

When you move to Nebraska, you must exchange your driver’s license and apply for a vehicle registration within 30 days of establishing residency in the state. Your vehicle will also need to undergo a VIN inspection onsite at your DMV office location. If you’ve moved to Clark or Washoe County, your vehicle must also undergo an emissions test in order to be registered in Nevada.

The DMV also has specific information geared toward its military residents and non-residents, in order to accommodate the unique circumstances that military service brings. Non-residents stationed in Nevada are not required to get a NV license or registration while serving in the state.

The Nevada DMV offers several online services through its MyDMV service, including:

You can access many licensing and registration forms online. You can also access the Nevada Driver Handbook online, in addition to the Motorcycle and Commercial driver handbooks. Looking to study for your license exam? The DMV offers an online practice test to help you ace your exam.
